Lost bags, melted dash, and lost knobs( fixes?)
I have not owned my C14 too long. I did however read many of these forums before I bought my bike. It's 22 deg outside so I have not been riding. But I have been "playing"
I have noticed the following changes as made by Kawasaki on MY BIKE.
( I also looked at several dealers and several other C14's ) Mine happens to be a newer arrival at my dealer.
The bag attachment lock if differant than those posted as pictures on several threads. Mine do not have the "plastic"guide pins noted elsewhere. The attached "hook" for lack of a better word is still the same, but a differnt locking system using an "over-cam" type closer with metal "hinges" as the fulcrum.
Melting dash. I went out to "do my windshield" edge, and noticed it has already been "scrubbed" or ground on the top edge, as received. The "roughed up" edge is all the way to the first radius of the windshield.
Lost knobs. Many complained or noted they lost their headlight adjustment knobs while riding, and needed to "glue" them in place. Mine are a new design that have a center screw securing them.
It looks as if Kawasaki has already made it into production with a least SOME fixes for the issues raised.
Just thought I would share the changes I have observed.

I saw the demo in the shop the other day and it too had screws on the h/light knobs; and with what you've said it does appear someone in KHQ has tuned into this issues and got them sorted (as it seems).
No doubt manufacturers or related people would be in touch with what's being said on forums, it's only good marketing to know what your clients might need/want...or are talking about...

Come on...22 degrees F is the perfect temperature to ride the mighty C-14 !
I work swings and ride 120 miles round trip daily, it's usually around 20 when I get on the icy seat for my 1 hour therapy ride home. So far nothing has fallen off of my bike. Ride safe.

Sounds awesome. I'm a new member but have been lurking for weeks prior to my purchase. It too is sitting at the dealer waiting for a hotgrips install.
I'm glad to hear some of those issues may have been addressed. I know it just came in on the crate last week so I'll post as to whether or not those fixes/changes are on mine as well.
Thanks for the heads-up!

Any chance of pic of the "new" latch?

I bought one in August, crashed it and got a new one a couple weeks ago. The headlight knobs now have screws in them. The edge of the windshield is dulled down, sanded or whatever. The two screws that hold the glove box cover on are now allen screws that go into metal nuts rather than the previous phillips into plastic. My bag latches are exactly the same as the old ones.

Did you remove the 8 screws and pull the latch mechanism out of the bag to look at it? that's the only way to see if it has the same old red plastic tabs riding in the guides on both sides of the latch.

If you take a photo of the "old" latch system...I'll be glad to take the same photo of my new latch/bags since I know it had the knob and storage box and windshield "fixes" applied. I just picked it up last weekend and it came in the crate the week prior so it's a newer issued bike.
I just don't know what to take a photo of....

Great, Thanks....
You have to remove the bag and the 8 screws inside that hold the handle / latch assy into the bag. It's easy, pops right out and back in. This is a shot of the front or rear view of the latch (they look the same). You can see the red plastic tab in the channel, it's broken off and the grease is the only thing holding it there. Also notice if there's a sticker with what seems to be a date on the assy when you have it out.

For what its worth, I noticed the other day whilst out riding that the gap between the RH plastic fairing and the tank appears greater than the LH side. I've not noticed it before and am beginning to wonder whether it might be due to heat expansion. I'm hoping it doesn't get worse. I've already loosened fixings and re-tightened. Anyone else noted this?

My gaps were off l/r, I put a spacer in behind the left side to bring it out to match the tank. I think its just bad/cheap plastic. After getting hot a few times they seem to be more aligned with each other.
