Side Case latch

There has been some talk on the other forums and also the fault reports regarding the side case / sidebag latches failing and the cases dropping off.
Has anyone any experience of this or know what the problem is.?

There's been lots of discussion on this somewhere..

I find the locking system similar to use as the BMW system, but, (personally) I find the K system sloppy and insecure, although it does seem to lock/hold the bags ok...(so far )

With the (other brand) the open and shut locking positions were clear and obvious and the use of orange/red locking parts colors made a difference as does the use of steel/metals I think made that secure feeling.

If you were to close the (K)bag lid-lock onto closed lock by accident a few times I could see the thing breaking or being damaged in no time, this could be a factor in bag loss maybe?

here's a lot of discussion on another forum

WFM, I read that forum thread and poohed myself. Just going out to look at mine now, but I have sent the US Concourse thread URL to the ed at MCN who seems to be able to at least get manuf to look at probs. Perhaps the media can get Kwak to do summat. Just suppose case fell off and someone else was riding behind.....
Back now from the shed. Lock mechanism takes 5 mins or less to remove. The lower pins on the red retaining hook are plastic and the upper pin is metal in mine. They are all like that AFAIAA. It seems that it is the bottom pins which fail.
Depending on what MCN can make happen, I may write to put Kwak on notice (technically it is the dealer who is responsible, but I shall write to Kwak anyway) of the problem and saying that I hold them responsible should a latch fail and cause me loss or anyone else any injury as the fault is widely documented.
An additional letter from another lawyer to Kwak would help. Any more lawyers out there reading this?

I love the Kawasaki bags on my Concours and sure glad I don't have the milk crate looking bags on the BMW.

I was thinking, what does he mean?? then I realised it was the newer version of the bags, too true.. (my earlier reference was to the previous models, plain black ones) But.. another good point, the K-Bags seem to be so much roomier and more efficient in their space, like I used to fill up the BMW bags in the house, but could never get a filled bag into the case as the cases were oddly shaped on the inside part...but, like i said earlier, the lock system and 'feel' seems (bmw) better

wow, TWD, we might need to contact The Hague and get a trial date set ; I don't dispute that some bags have come off/failed, but...well.. I applaud your exuberance on the subject...
