crash bungs anywhere/anytime soon?

Hi, am a newbie, just dropping in to see if any of you people know if some crash bungs are out for this bike yet? didnt really think of them till the other day as i just dont see how they could help protect any part of the bike unless they are massive, so if you have any pictures please show them.

many thanks

R&G's website shows these, but I'm not sure if anyone has any experience with them yet.

Expensive (but cheap in a spill !!!) although I do prefer the genuine (unavailable) Kwak ones.

The only bad thing about the RG Racing ones is you need to drill holes in your fairing. Has anyone seen any others?

I had 613 miles on my bike when I dropped it in my driveway (while stopped and straddling it). I thought the kick stand was down. It wasn't. Scratched up the mirror, lower and upper fairing, the lower forward corner of the saddlebag, and a small (hardly noticable) dent in the tank where I attempted to hold it up with my knee. I cussed so loud and long, that a few For Sale signs went up in my neighborhood ! After I cooled down, I managed to polish out a lot of the damage on the painted surfaces. At lease I wasn't moving or it could have been a lot worse.

The R-G Racing sliders/crash bungs look good, but because of the exchange rate, I'll wait until something similar becomes available here in the states.

I've been looking since I first got my bike for a good set of sliders (and I'd gladly pay $100 to $250), but I haven't found any yet.

CW3, www.ridersinc.com has them for $255 plus shipping. That seems a bit expensive, but may be well worth it compared to a fairing replacement or being repainted. Maybe we should have a group buy on them.

I went through all the brands listed on that site and didn't see any for the C-14/ZG1400. Maybe I missed it ? I seen some for the ZX, but not the ZG.
If they are available, count me in for a group buy. How do we go about it ?
Money is no problem (I have none) , but I got plenty of time.
There's not much riding going on here in CT. (to much salt on the roads)

BTW; Is your lab Black, Chocolate, or yellow ?

The RG racing ones look ok to me... but.. besides having to cut a hole in your fairing to mount it.. to me it looks like its mounted to high to really do any good until the bike is completely on it side.. sort of a mute point by then isn't it? On a drop the bottom of the fairing hits first and then the bottom of the middle fairing next.. so a bung that high on the side of the fairing i dont see as much help. The factory crash bungs look much better and stronger... They mount in the large holes on the sides of your frame and cantilever an arm out along the lower edge of your fairing.. where there is already a notch in the fairing for it... when they will be available? and how much? who knows.... someone tell me.

See you on the road,

Jerry

Jerry, I agree with you 100%, the factory ones look the best, but the accessory manufacturers will probably have several different
types out before 'Waski Inc finally gets it in gear and releases theirs.
I hope by spring we'll have several to choose from, but that's going to be to late for a lot of people.

I wrote to them for that info - no reply yet. The sliders that they show look decent.

I hope they do. Thanks.

I still wish 'waski would release theirs. Of all that I've seen, they looked like they would do the best job.
And I'm sure once I get done drilling holes in my fairing, the Special K team will finally make theirs available...

CW3, I sent an email to ridersinc, they were listed by R&G as a distributor. They replied with the $255 plus shipping. I would like to buy something before spring, just not many choices at this time. Any pics of the Kawi ones?

BTW, I have the chocolate version of the lab!

Thanks, I'll probably end up ordering those sometime over the next month. I seen the pictures of K's sliders in a thread somewhere in this forum (or maybe the other C-14 forum) a few months ago. I think the pics were from a European show somewhere.

I had 2 Yellows. Great dogs !

If that's the case, then you should buy a set. That way, kawasaki would release theirs. Think of it as taking one for the team.

If the team cares to send a contribution, all donations will be graciously accepted....
