Faulty Tire Valve Stem

I decided to check the air in the tires today and couldn't get any of three air gauges to work. Also, when I hooked up the air chuck to the valve stem, no air flowed into the tire. I unscrewed the valve stem a few turns, enough to get the air gauge to work and have the tire take air. Once I got the air pressure correctly set, I then screwed the valve stem back in. This problem was on both the front and rear tire.
Has anyone else had that problem? Is there a longer valve stem available to solve this problem?

My rear stem is so short I can barely get an air chuck on it, but I can get air in the tire. Needs replaced.

Bob, Was able to check the pressure (not sure if accurate as guage(s) reacted very slowly. Tried to add air and was unable on both tires. Will try what you did tomorrow, loosing the stem.

Ron, I picked up some new valve cores (Schrader Valves) and replaced the old one that had been over tightened at the factory. Air gauges and air chuck works now.

Don't loose it... just loosen it!
