Soft Electronic buzz-high pitch-ring while in range of kickpass before starting bike.
Has anyone experienced a very soft ring or buzzing after walking up to their c14 abs before starting it up? I have heard this while getting my gear out of the luggage compartments. I am on my second c14. I unfortunately crashed the first one, and it was a non abs and made no such noise. Any abs owners out there experience this noise? Or is it just in my head? My thinking is that it is related to the ABS system....

I have noticed it too at odd times with the bike off. Seems to be coming from the gas tank area. I have put my ear to it and it seems to be coming from deep within. The bike works so I am not too concerned.

May simply be the tank bleeding off excess pressure. If you pop open the tank cap the sound will immediately stop.

My ZZR1200 did that all the time. I got so used to it over the years I owned the bike I can't say if my zx14 does it or not. I am sure it does. As stated above it is merely pressure being released from the tank, nothing to worry about.

I really sound like an electronic noise. Could it be an early activation of the abs system before starting triggered by the kickpas?
Thanks for all the imput!

I was hearing a high pitch whistle today while working around the bike in the garage. It sounded like my aircompressor was leaking. But I checked that and it wasn't. I did have the door open to the outside and the temperature in the garage was changing rapidly. It could have been my bike, but I didn't pay much attention to it. I was busy hooking up a propane heater for the garage. Tomorrow, I'll try opening the bikes gas cap if I hear it again.

don't you guys have some emission canister inside the right fairing area, is that like a charcoal vapor filter thingo? could it be activating if your tank full-ish and it's hot... but then most of you guys are getting into winter... just a thought..
I remember this type of thing happening on my suzuki 4x4 and similar noise occurred when switched off or on a hot day... (might have missed this, but does it do that noise without having the fob nearby??)

That evaporative emmissions system tucked into the fairing is only on the California models.

The fuel system bleeds off excess pressure from time to time depending on external atmospheric conditions such as rising or falling temperatures.

Yep. I haven't heard the C-14 do it yet, but my ZZR and my brother's ZX6R can scream with the best of them.

Yep. Mine definitely whistles when the temperature changes rapidly in my garage. Lately I've been working in my garage and after I fire up the heater ( "Cold as hell in CT lately!!!!!" ) and it starts getting warm, the bike whistles like a tea kettle. Popping the cap neutralizes the pressure and it stops.
I've never heard any "Soft Electronic buzz-high pitch-ring while in range of kickpass before starting bike" though.

Rocklee and drsmig are on the ball my zx14 does it my fj1200 does it as well as my buddies 12r and another 10r it is the pressure differential when the sun heats the tank and pressure builds up try opening the filler cap and it will release the pressure only to build back up and start again probably.
Matter of fact you can hear the 14 do it from several feet away it sounds like a continuous electronic whistle, many people have approached me over the summer and said my bike alarm is beeping .
