Fuel Range ??

OK...burned through the first tank of gas...at 90 miles the low fuel warning began flashing indicating I have about 1.1 gallons of fuel left, per the well written manual. That suprised me...90 miles.. WTF ? Filled the tank and it took 3.8 gallons to fill. So the gauge was fairly accurate.

Keep in mind that I am breaking in the motor an not exceeding 4000 rpms.

This seems like terrible mileage/range.

So I am curious...please post up your cruising range and total miles on your bike. Thanks

just wait till you rev it ... with a full tank, cruising at 100/110kmh (70mph) it indicates around the 400-430km range, that soon changes when you hit some bends or start overtaking a few lines of cages... but I fill up dependant on where fuel stations are (in the country), generally around the 250-300km mark.. not good, but its in the range I usually stop at anyway... I do get the feeling I'm filling up lots, but I've ridden it only 16 days and already have 6400kms up, loving it

Was it the first tank that was filled by the dealer? It seems they like to fill it until it looks full, but it will quickly drop from the full point. 90 is way too low.

Yup, 140miles should be about when the warning comes on. Put a few more tanks through it. Running in you should see 165miles before the light comes on. UK mileage though, don't know what that equates to US. I noticed that you can still get quite a lot of fuel in the tank AFTER it first appears to be full.

Yes that was the first tank from the dealer...they filled it. I filled it to the bottom of the filler...just as the manual states. We'll see what happens. Thanks !
