Insurance observation £406 or £78?

I rang carol nash today to get my (yet to be collected GTR added to my rider policy. £406! I already pay £250 for my other bikes (mostly old 2 strokes but also my 955 Tiger.
I said I would ring around for quotes. Ebike £300, but needed NCB from existing policy which was impossible. So without NCB was £800.
Bennets couldnt quote as the bike isnt listed!!!(spend too much money advertising and not enough on customer service IMHO).
I seemed to have no option but to pay the £400 to Carol Nash. I rang back and got different operator who was much better. She asked to check the details as the guy who was going to ring me back the day before wasnt in.
"Lets see, a YZFR1?"
" No, No No..."
"Well perhaps its just the same group, I will check"
15 minuted later-she checked. Additional premium £78 fully comp.
It pays to query things.

I had a nightmare getting insured

http://www.zxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7530

Ended up messing around horribly. I needed 2 bikes and 2 riders on same policy. Only ebike seemed to do this, but they dont insure "green laning" (my other bike). As you say, most of them dont even have it correctly listed on their Database (I assume they all use the same one). Funnily enough they also list my other bike incorrectly as well. Ended up with two policies. Then when the GTR policy came there was a "statement of fact" error which added an extra £67 on. I am sure I was ripped off :(. Ended up paying £470 in total. Diary note made for a month preceeding renewal to phone around.

Ditto...Clingy. I wanted to add it to my other bike policy.

Why is it that it seems to be that you can get a better deal depending on who you speak to on the phone?

Going to the NEC Bike Show so will go and see them and find out what is going on as I applied for an online quote again yesterday just for the hell of it and they still don't list the 1400GTR...
Ebikeinsurance gave me the best quote at the time so I went with them.
