Autocom Help on UK GTR1400.

Hi,

had an Autocom Super pro fitted to the bike.

It was stood for 12 days and ended up with a flat battery.

Bikes in the shop and they believe the Autocom is draining the battery.

They fitted it! But...... How would/have you wired yours into the bike?

Tried ringing autocom but they're closed and might not get a chance to ring tomorrow.

Any answers welcomed.

Cheers!

Hi Daren,
I think, the Autocom is not the reason of this problem.
If you installed her correctly, she must turn herself off if you switch the Bike-ignition to -off- (power-out 15). Please check the control ignition of the Autocom (hope she have). Otherwise, you connected her directly on battery (power-out 30) and she is always on "standby". That sucks the battery.

I guess your Bat. is fu****

Sorry for my bad english :o((

Wired mine directly to the power source at the rear. Powers off completely when ignition is off. Fitted a secondary switch under the saddle only so the Autocom wouldn't come on every time I turned on the ignition.

What did they connect it to?

If you had fitted the Starcomm system the problem would not have occurred. The Unit connects directly to the battery and powers off the minute the riders helmet plug is disconnected.

From a newbie! I've just fitted a Pro-sport 7 to my brand new shiney GTR. I shoe-horned it after the tool box holder, next to the wiring loom and wedged it in. I managed to get the security screws out using a wide bladed screwy and just leant on it slowly turned & luckily one screw started turning, then the next & so on. I replaced them with 'button head' cap screws. Routing the various cables wasn't too bad but becareful running the riders headset cable and in my case the lead for the radio under the seat to exit between the seat and tank. There is a black neoprene/rubber padding piece, and when I removed my seat a couple of days later, noticed that there was an imprint of where the cable had laid. Replaced the seat carefully trying to run cable in gap but must make note to watch out - don't want to crush cable with seat. Found the connectors after taking out the black plastic trim. Bought some bullet connectors from a well known car accessory shop, but they were 8amp. You need 5amp (the red ones) and also found the accessory fuse which is marked, funnily enough accessory! (Also feeds the front accessory circuit). Leads for Zumo also come back to Autocom under panels and seat.
