UK to Portugal for a footy match.. Benfica v Everton..

As a life long Everton fan I was so happy when we qualified for the Europa league this year.

We have won all our European games so far and Our next game is away against Benfica , the legendary team from Lisbon, next Thursday 22nd.

I got the call this morning that my application for a ticket was successful..

So.. its Plymouth to Santander on Sunday 18th ..

Round the Spanish Green coast and into Portugal or maybe accross the Picos and through the trans montains via Braganca and Villa Real ??

Then A nice run down the coast to Lisbon.

The day after the game I am heading across central Spain towards France as my ferry back is the Roscoff - Plymouth on Monday 26th

About 2000 miles plus the UK bit, there are some nice mountains to cross and some great towns to visit, plus some good friends I need to drop in to see near Bordeaux (Shan and Donna).

I will be taking the mini net book with me so will try to update this thread with some photos if I am not too busy celebrating ;)

Any of our Portuguese members that want to suggest interesting routes in and out of the country or even meet up for a coffee would be very much appreciated.

Sounds like a wonderful trip even without the football match. I have not been to Portugal, but can recall wonderful scenes in both Spain and France.
