The service manual states that the battery of the FOB will last for approximately 1 year.
1-26 GENERAL INFORMATION
Technical Information-KIPASS (Kawasaki’s Intelligent Proximity Activation Start
System)
If FOB Key Battery Is Dead
If the FOB key battery is dead, authentication is performed by the transponder and not by the
KIPASS. Authentication requires approximately 1 to 2 seconds.
*It will not detect a battery voltage drop, detect whether the motorcycle is running, or authenticate
the FOB while the key knob is turned OFF.
•If the voltage of the FOB key battery has dropped, a warning will appear on the meter as the knob
is turned ON.
According tot he service manual the FOB (remote) can then be used in the following manner.
Step 1: Remove the Mechanical key from the FOB
Step 2: Insert the FOB key into the front of the key knob. This is on the front center steering fork portion.
Step 3: Authentication takes 1 - 2 seconds and key knob can then be turned.
Step 4: Push key knob --> Turn to ON position
Step 5: After turning to ON position remove the FOB.

Benoni is a nice city. About 25km away from Johannesburg at the outer fringes of Gauteng on the border with Mpumalanga.
Mmm - Especially the weather makes it extremely nice (something like 350 days of sunshine and then in the summer rain period only short thunderstorms in the afternoons (called locally Government storms because it always rain when the Government employees are leaving haha - But this is in Gauteng)
Lots of nice sweeping roads exiting the city portions and nice places for a breakfast within 1 hours ride.
Ride with Garmin GPS loaded with newest speedtraps.
