From the look of the improvements made I'd be trading up.

Reading the specs - nah, getting a bit too fancy with the tech controls. Don't like the idea of Traction Control where the cpu controls power output on the engine if your spinning the wheel under power. Heck, what if you Want To burn a little rubber, have a litle fun, scare yourself a bit and lay a track? Are we allowed to pull a wheelie with the ABS alarm light? Too much controls. Otherwise still a beauty.

... and if you want to sell your old one to your dealer, you will lose 1500 $ or Euros from one day to the next! .... 20 improvements? It's too much for a re-design after 3 years. Take a look on the compl. new fairing!

Yeah I thought the same thing but since I am used to quick changes on products since I work for Apple I'm not rattled. Besides I got my 09 ABS for 12K plus tax and license.
I'm willing to bet that you won't be able to pull that on an 10. Like the new fairing don't like traction control, and i'm wondering where in the hell is the cruise control?

I'm changing!!!!!!! Heat from the 2009 is pretty unbearable in temps over 30º
Centigrade. Here in Portugal temps in summer are often over36ºC.

Those are some very nice updates. I don't think that I will be trading my 09 in though. Maybe if there was cruze control in the list of new stuff.

It gets that here and above and I have to admit my 09 is not bothersome. Maybe my fairings are sealed well or something but while you can feel heat it's not cooking hot.

You are right!
The heat of the Conny-fairing is the heat of a bike over 1000 q/cm. Other Bikes (ST1300, FJR 1300 for example) causes the same heat. My last Bike (ST 1300) could cook also eggs. Sometimes more than my GTR . ...
The best improvement for me is, that you can ride the 2010 GTR in 2 different mappings. --- That's hot, ... that's really fantastic.
But the worst is: 22 years the Kawis kicked a dead horse and than they roll out a new one. And after three years, these guys did the final homework. I'm not in the position to teach these guys, bud this is (I think) not the right way to handle customers. .... Finaly: The 2010 GTR /Concours is the best Bike since last 5 years. Why did she come not earlier?
Best regards from Germany
Werner

Sure it can be a little upsetting when you see a new model with some new features that your year lacks, but I'm glad that Kawasaki is busy making improvements. Some were really needed - like repositioning the mirrors so the bags don't obscure half the mirrors. That was a bad safely issue. Plus they now help shield the hands from wind better.
Isn't it better to have a motorcycle coutinuously improved, rather than see it become a non-contender against the competition?
Some here mention that the '08-'09 has excess heat, but I ride in the hot Florida climate and don't feel this is an issue. However, I do always wear pants (with armor) and never shorts. If you wear shorts, I am sure it may get quite hot.

new GTR ?
my GTR is now one year old ,done +- 18000km ,we , my wife and me , are just back from a 1o day bike trip from swakopmund to capetown via upington +- 4800km ..the bike has got already BT 021 on ,powercomander and two brothers pipes.. taler screen from skidmarx UK with a flip , much better in rain conditions .. i like the positon of the morrows more than on the new bike and i don`t see a justification to change the bike for ,to me minor ,"improvements"..when the bike came out ,i waited purposely one year to go through the first updates like the orange hocks for the boxes or for the improvements on the light adjustment knops ..i am very happy the way the bike is now , the pipes and powercomander give me a little but noticeable power esp. in the final drive,, changing for what ,i am happy with what i have , a good performing 1400 GTR !!!

That sounds like a great trip Andreas. Glad you like the bike and it sounds like you have made some changes already to make it work better for you.
