Front disc story
Hi
My buddy and I both ride GTRs, mine March 08 and Carls Sept 07 - both not yet done 10,000 miles
I posted a thread a while back after we returned from a Scotand Holiday where I noticed under heavy braking (like oh shit type braking) that I felt a pulsing / vibration from the front end. Carl said his braking was OK and the web wisdom pointed me to well known disc warping issues. I set up a dial gauge and the discs only had one thou run out. At this point I started accepting the vibes and actually started to compensate by riding smoother, using the gears and back brake more. I guess I just could not face a trip to the dealers when I knew the discs were true and I could be wasting my time.
Anyway Carl goes off to tour Europe without me and comes back unhappy with the front brakes on heavy downhill braking. Vibes and pulsing like me.So unlike me he rings the dealer and in no time he has new discs and pads. The dealer says the discs dont need to be warped as its a compatability issue with pads and discs that is common on the GTRs. The new discs look the same, cant say if the pads are any different.
So today the sun shines and off we go for a run with me happy ish to live with my brakes and Carl sporting new discs and pads. We swop bikes and bloody hell his brakes are great - smooth and more powerfull than mine. He gets off my bike and says my brakes are crap, vibrations, pulsing and even a stearing wobble when really braking hard.
I am ringing the dealer first thing tomorrow to get new discs and pads. I dont know why I put up with it. We both have Pilot PR2 rubber.
