Windshield broke
Riding the bike Sunday and checking the FI error light. Going downhill with the windshield up. Bout 135-140 ish and all of a sudden the windshield flops back towards me. Took the front off and its a cast piece that looks like a "Y". Its guides the windshield as it goes up and down. The bottom of it broke off. Seems a little cheesy for a bike that was designed for 170+. Dealer said that he has to order the whole windshield assy at 500.00+. Thankfully I have 5 years warranty. The dealer is going to replace the whole assy which will take a couple hours instead of just the piece which would take about 30min.

The latest gen connie is still a new bike. Kawasaki will be refining it for years. Glad your warrantee covered it.

No shit...that warranty's paying for itself. Glad to hear it's going to work out for you.

WTF you riding at those speeds with the shield up for?
Surely common sense dictates that is a crazy thing to do.

Glad to hear it is getting fixed under warranty, wonder why it broke in the first place?

The piece is cast, not forged. 20,000+ miles at mostly 90+ with shield up probably created stress that over time caused it to crack. That was with the stock shield. I wont go over 100 with the C Baily up. Many times up to 150-160 with the stocker up. I figure if Kawi doesnt want us to ride at those speeds with it up, there would be a "Warning or Caution" in the owners manual.
Worked on helicopters for over 23yrs and if there was a possibility of something breaking, there was a Caution. Possibility of injury or death, a Warning. I know that the Kawi owners manual has these also. And yes, the warranty has definately paid for itself. I bought the extended warranty with 6 services plan. I only use the services on the Valve adjustments. Thats 800+ a pop. 2 services pay off the plan. Not a bad deal.

Sorry, I forget that this is an international site. MPH. Ya, 90KPH wouldnt be very stressful. And if it was, there would be a huge problem.
