GTR 2009 vs GTR 2007

Hi

I have a FJR 1300 2004 and thinking in getting a GTR.

My doubt is between a brand new 2009 GTR or a 2007 GTR with only 5.000km.

Can anyone tell if the are any diferences between these bikes (2007 vs 2009). Any improvements, changes, etc.?

Thank you for your help,

Pedro Gordo

Pedro the only change was the choice of colour. There were a few very small modifications done. The tank storeage compartment is a bit better with a stronger mounting. If you get the 2008 model make sure that the recall modifications have been done. Also on the 2009 model as some recall modifications still needed doing like the adjuster knobs.

Thanks for your help.

I see that GTR 2009 is very similar to 2008 and 2007 models.

As KrautBurner says there is no 2007 model, only 2008 and 2009. The 2008 model was available in 2007, which is probably what is confusing you. The differences between 2008 and 09 are just the colours.

In Europe if a model comes out in 2007 its a 2007 model , we don't do that "it's after July so it's next years model" hokum

I like that system a lot better. It makes more sense. So there have been three model years of GTR in Europe and only two in North America.

Only 2 model years in Europe. The first 2008 model was released mid 2007 and classed as the 2008 model. Caused some confusion when trying to get insurance as most insurance companies disn't have a 2007 GTR on record so if you got your bike in 2007 you still had to class it as a 2008 model.

Thank you for your help, again!

I'm already a new GTR owner! I bought a brand new GTR 1400, 2009, silver, the colour of my choice. In the first week, I've done 1600km.

I'm very, very, VERY, HAPPY! The only thing I can say to you is that this GTR is the best bike I've ever riden. Much better than my previous Pan European 1300 and FJR 1300.

I just don't like the engine heat. It's excessive! And my wife misses the Pan's seat and leg room. The front shield misses some wind protection (driver and pilion). I already bought the Kawasaki's touring front shield. The rest of the bike is fantastic!!!

Here's me when I picked up the bike, at the Kawasaki dealer.

And finally alone with her...

This is my third Kawasaki. I've owned Honda's, Yamaha's, etc. Nothing compares to this bike. It's a class apart.

The price of a GTR 1400 ABS in Portugal is 16.800€. About $23.000! you can see it in http://www.kawasaki.pt/1400GTR

In Spain in a little less expensive. In France is similar.

You're very lucky in USA... For us buying a GTR it's a luxury. The minimun salary in Portugal is 450€, about $615. It's not easy to get one...

Portugal is always in the top of bad things and in the bottom of good things.
