Power Commander 3 USB

Hi. I have removed the butterflies on my GTR , much better low rev performance. I am thinking of fitting a Power Commander 3 to the bike. Could anybody tell me how these units are self tuned at home ? Thanks Ken.

I would recommend fitting a PC-3 or even a PC-5 as it reportedly runs lean with the butterflies removed. If you were to purchase the Power Commander from Fuelmoto in the US they would provide the appropriate fuel map. But I have no idea how you would tune it at home, unless you have a Dynamometer.

Hi Jonathan. Thanks for your advice. When I said about tuning at home! I was asking for any information on the three buttons on the front of the Power Commander 3. and how to adjust the Lean/Rich mixtures.

Ken, How are you getting around the O2 sensor issue? Have Dynojet UK now produced a map for the UK / Euro bikes?

Hi Ken, excuse my ignorance, but what are "butterflies"? Have you a pic?
Thanks Bob

Bob...Try this thread for some in depth discussion on the butterflies.
http://www.zxforums.com/forums/gtr-1...y-removal.html

The GTR throttle bodies have two sets of valves. One controlled by the throttle and the other controlled by the ECU. If you remove the secondary butterfly valves which are controlled by the ECU, you gain an increase in power etc but you need to compensate for fuel / air mix by fitting a PowerCommander. The European bikes have O2 sensors in the exhaust and these are causing an issue with getting the correct fuelling maps for the PC to compensate for the removal of the secondary butterflies.

Sorry if I hijacked your thread Ken.

power commander 3

Hi Hitman. Sorry for taking so long to reply to your 02 sensor comment. Talking to Dynojet UK, They have now got a Power Commander for the GTR 1400 now which when fitted, cuts out the 02 sensors. The standard map supplied with the Power Commander 3 is slightly richer for fuel, and can then be tweeked on the faceplate of the unit, or have a Dynojet centre customise for you, with the butterfly`s removed, Appox, £100.00.

You should speak to Jamie at Fuelmoto in USA, imported mine to South Africa with the correct maps loaded. Supplied him with all the mods done to my GTR and he did the set-up. You should be carefull that the motor does not run too lean without the flies & no PC to compensate.

Power Commander 3

Hi Frans. Thanks for your comments, I have read the info on the Power Commander website, Firstly, They say that any unit imported from America will be void of warranty. Secondly, British GTR`s have 02 emission control sensors.
This makes a lot of difference in mapping the bikes. Not sure if you have 02 sensors fitted to your bike. Ken. ( Bikemad )
