Throttlemeister review

Super! Installation was five minutes and it works perfect. I think the bar ends are heavier too to help quill bar vibes. I should have gotten them sooner. Happy riding for me.

I found with min, if i have it so I rotate it little, the friction sleeve tends to require more effort on the throttle. I have mine shimmed so that it's almost a good half turn to lock it. When on the backroads, I keep it fully open, when on trips, I keep it partially locked (but the throttle is still free) so that it doesn't have to be turned as much to lock.

Play around with it some and you'll find what works best for you.

A true cruise control would still be nice, but nothing beats the installation time of a TM.

Last weekend, I made an 800 mile trip to visit family and was VERY happy to have a throttlemeister.

For long rides on the interstate, it's nice to be able to give the wrist a rest every once and a while. One of the features I like best about this particular throttle lock is it can be adjusted to where it just holds a setting-- making it easy to make minor throttle corrections without totally disengaging.

I also appreciate the stealth appearance: I bought the black finish and the bar ends look like they belong on this bike.

But-- I HAVE found two things I don't particularly like about the TM:

1. I have the lock shimmed so about a half turn on the bar end will hold the throttle. This works well, except on hot days where thermal expansion of the grip causes the TM to drag somewhat. It's not a good thing when the throttle sticks during a shift...

I'd set the engagement point farther out, if not for drawback #2..

2. Compared to the lever style lock I had on my last bike-- the Throttlemeister takes considerably more effort to engage. While I AM getting better at it-- holding a throttle setting while twisting on the bar end with a gloved hand can be tricky. I wonder if the "scalloped finish" TM would be easier in this regard...

Overall, based on the finish, build quality, and function I would highly recommend the ThrottleMeister. A true electronic cruise control would (no doubt) be better, but for MY needs the TM works VERY well.

Also, (unlike the Audiovox cruise control)- installation AND removal are quick and leave no scars.

Given Kawasaki designed the C14 to kick ass on the BMWs while seriously undercutting their prices-- I would expect to see an OEM cruise option in the not-too-distant future.

In the meantime, I'm (mostly) happy with the Throttlemeister...
