The view, if I'd made it to the Ural Mountains....
instead, I took off early in a mixture of cool cloud turning into windy, squally rainstorms, but having overtaken only 3 cars on a 160km stretch of fun country road made the rain part of the fun...
Got to a place called Armidale where it cleared to become a fine but cool night, temps going down to a nice -2C or so, the next day was brisk... checked out the local history, here's the GTR at the old Uni
Then, in the afternoon I made it to the Urals!
here's me onboard...
It was the official launch in Australia of the Ural bikes with their sidecars, I am looking at getting one of these adventurous hacks so I can get back into my love for camping in out-of-the-way country places... plenty of dirt roads here in Oz.
and one of the nice red Tourist model I like...
Oh - I'll no doubt keep the GTR, one can't go without a nice REV from time to time

my goodness, this trip had some nice fast cruising on the way back.
I took 3 days off, good to get out after the events of the past few weeks (Dad's passing). It rained, got cold, very cold, then rained heavily some more, temps down to zero over the mountains, but.. a most fun ride as I kept warm with my widders vest... pity the GTR doesn't really have a 'heat problem' as I would've enjoyed it yesterday
Here's a good view of what I enjoyed along the return journey...
Cruising on the flats around 160-180k was a breeze on the GTR, wet mountain roads wasn't as fast, but confident on the PR2's - very good in the wet, although the 'cut off' sensation under 4000revs was noticeable, a bit annoying but a higher gear fixed that...
Only 1050kms, but a brilliant ride, great fun
