GPS works In the Glove Box!

I have an existing IPAQ RX 5935 travel companion with TomTom Europe on it.

I use the IPAQ for business and the Sat Nav function usually in the car or the Van.

I have used it in the past on the bike inside the Glove Box, riding with the lid open.

It is difficult to see the screen.

Today I put a set of headphones on and plugged them into the IPAQ but closed the lid as it was raining. I expexcted to lose the signal but with the lid down the Sat Nav worked perfectly with all instructions coming through loud and clear!

This avoids having to shell out for an expenbsive Sat Nav and bracket. If I do need to see the screen I can always open the lid.

Hope this helps someone else out there who does not want a separate system.

Did 190 miles x country today and am still grinning from ear to ear

Great, but one thing to keep in mind is the heat and vibration, you can keep a pasty warm in mine, and would be worried having murdered some tablets with vibration (pharmacy kind not PC).

Yep, it was well toasted when I took it out after 90 minutes but still works today I am less worried by the vibration than the heat.

I keep a little usb mp3 player in mine linked through the autocom and that gets toasty too but still works fine with no glitches. Vibration is a problem on most of the car type satnavs. Hope yours keeps working. The worst that can happen is it freezes up and may require a reset.

With so much heat I guess that Kawasaki will soon put the same warning on the glovebox as McDonalds have on their cups.........."Warning, contents are hot!......"

Of course, I only realised this when I first got the bike last August after putting a Twix in it
