New Forum?
Lots of talk of having a dedicated UK forum.
Here is one I set up for MZs. Ackshullya mate did it for me, I just moderate it occasionally. I am happy to do again. I will donate a domain, I need some (trustworthy) volunteers to moderate. By and large, a forum site can be left to it's own devices, just delete any offensive posts and generally police it. It was made from a standard skin available free.
Not many visitors but then again it is a limited topic. Easy enought to do the same for a GTR Conc

Well the first thing I notice is the speed of opening and no darned adverts. I for one would be interested in joining. When I get my GTR, then I'll be eligible for moderatorship.
cheers
John

Soz for the delay, have added a gtr section to my existing forum's, absolutely no adverts!
At the moment to make administration easier and manage that pathetic internet spam that will hit us if I dont manage it, access will be granted via email.
Send an email with "forum" in the subject header with your chosen username and password and i'll grant you access on a one by one basis thus preventing the bots joining and ruining the forum.
See you there, p.s. the forum will be shared with a few of my gaming friends, although if at first if you could confine your posts to the gtr section i'd be most happy.
the email to send your requests to is as follows (without spaces)
re aperw al es @ m ai l . c om
P.P.S. Your emails will not be used for anything other than giving you your registration, no details will be added to any email list of any description, and once your signed up your email will be removed from my recieved list to prevent any one possibly hacking my account and getting your details, after all I can contact you within the forum!

To check the speed go here :-
http://reapergaming.co.uk/phpbb/index.php
If you wish to register yourself, goto the above forum and click register, follow on screen instructions, you will get a "debug error" at the end because I have not set my board to email you but your user will be created.
Note however that until you send me an email I with forum in the subject header and your selected user name in the post I can't activate you and you will not be able to post.
The advantage of this method as opposed to the method above is that I don't need to know your password, and reduces how much typing I have to do!
You can still however send me an email as stated above with user name and password and i'll create it for you if you have any problems.
The email to send your requests to is as follows (without spaces)
re aperw al es @ m ai l . c om
Enjoy!

Hi Ian; I just noticed that this is a different forum to the one proposed by Mr TWD who started the thread! Has your forum hi-jacked his MZ-esque forum ??

ahh just read that a bit more carefully, thought it was a response to the post where I stated I was setting one up, but yes it appears I hijacked TouchWoodsDen's post, for which I appologise. Although that being said the post I should have responded too was also by TWD as well, so hopefully my blindness has caused no offence.

Hey, no probs, we are all off the same sheet.
I suggest dedicated URL and the PHBB skin is fine.
Voluteers to moderate?
TwD

I have been moderating on the FJR owners site since 2001 and know a few of the habitual trolls ..
So I would be up for helping out if needed,
Stu..

Cheers TWD, did not wish to tread on any toes, cheers for the offers of moderation, if it is required I will certainly consider having some helpers. I'm hoping that keeping the login to admin activate that most of the bots and muppets will be kept in check allowing only the genuine members through, time will tell!
Had a small issue with logins yesterday, have fixed that now. As to a dedicated URL, suppose I can look into that...any suggestions?

Stu, you have www.1400gtr.co.uk don't ya? Could we use that?
Failing that ZG1400.co.uk is still available as are a couple of others.
Failing that I could put a link onto the frontpage of www.gtr1000.com but I can't host the forum as I'm already over my website size limit.

I'd be interested in joining, but the signup process is too complicated and will result in a limited number of members. Can you just add a CAPTCHA to the signup process? That will prevent bots.

You register as normal and send a simple email with your user name, not that complicated really, have upgraded to phpbb3 so maybe its captcha is better but the one on 2.1 sucked, had to delete many bots a day. But I will listen if others think it's too complicated, what do you guys think go with full automated login or leave as is to rule out spam. One of the main problems with the early zxforums was spam. Since I've done it this way i've not had a single bot.

There is already a UK forum available...
If you hadn't noticed, there is already a UK forum for GTR owners available to you. Try...
http://www.1400gtr.org.uk/
Max has been trying to get it organised for a while now.. . Just a few members at the moment, but that will rise I reckon.
Give it a try.
Best wishes,
Rolfy Dave
