Fairing removal

Has anyone removed the fairing to put complete exhaust system on. I have the Muzzy duel and am wondering how much is involved to remove the fairing to change the exhaust. Thanks for any information. Ron

Ron, All the fairings come off very easily. I have had mine off a number of times now. Full set removal takes about 45 minutes. and about 1 hour to refit. Most importantly you must make sure of where all the fixings go back because some have washers and some don't. Even if that means drawing a diagram. You need to know how to un-clip the plastic quick rivets and I find it is best to do each section seperately and store the fixings in a small container marked for each fairing section.
If you haven't done so already, download the service manual here http://www.mediafire.com/?71ggxbddlmi
and Fairing removal is well explained in chapter 15. The exhaust removal is in chapter 5 page 36.

I removed the fairings and radiator to install my Muzzy system. You may be able to get the header off and on with the radiator in place - but I didn't want to chance damaging the radiator fins.

You will also need to remove the center stand. Muzzy can modify the stand to work with the new exhaust.

I have a few pics of the install here - http://zoldar.googlepages.com/home

Take your time and you will be fine - Good luck!
