I finally bought a 1400 Connie ABS model this past weekend. Took my 2004 ZZR 1200 up to trade her in, but ended up buying the bike outright and leaving the Zed there on consignment. We all agreed they should be able to get me $6k net for it, but they would only give me $4600 in trade. I rode her home in a 42 degree (f) drizzle, and the weather has flat sucked since.

This is the smoothest bike I have ever ridden! I ordered the larger windscreen before I left the dealer. Once she is broke in, fly removal will happen, and then we will see about removing that Peterbilt truck muffler. I am not buying an aftermarket pipe until I hear it running... I am not into noise!

Anyone able to say they have heard an aftemarket pipe that is not very loud (Seriously!)

I will also be calling Phillip in texas about a real rack, I think...

welcome to the forum Greggness and congrats on your brilliant purchase. No doubt, this is one smooth ride. I think you bought the best bike in the world, but I might be biased. I also cannot wait to get the cannon off my bike! I will go with a stainless Muzzy because the packing never needs replacing. (or so they say) I am not sure if its real quiet. I hope it is! Minnesota Spring riding is poor this year too. It was snowing lightly when I left. (yes. I was on my bike) I am done waiting on mother nature. I am dropping her off for the 600 mi. service today. Ride like you mean it Greggness!!

I've noticed a number of people immediately wanting to change mufflers. I was amazed at how quiet the bike was and thought a little more growl would be nice. But after the break-in and adding a little more RPMs it does seem like it's gotten a little louder. It might just be my imagination but I'm quite happy with the sound now that I've got a few miles on it.

I have no issues with how the stock can sounds. Its a little hard on the eyes. If the thing was any longer, it could double as a wheelie bar!

Yes, the look and apparent weight are what concern me... I like the "stealth" approach, as here in Washington State we have cops coming out of our ears.

One of these days someone will start selling a muffler with a thumb-switch controlled servo that opens up the exhaust for more power and noise when desired, and closes back down when appropriate as well. Maybe it will simultaneously switch the EFI map from "power" to "economy" mode!

That would be cool.
