Do those green underlined ad links annoy you?
Do those green underlined ad links annoy you?
Here is the solution:
If the poster edits the post by removing the green underlined word and saves, then re-edits and saves putting the word back in. The green underline ad hyperlink disappears.
We can fight back!

I'm not aware of any stats, but I can tell there's been far less movement in the forum since the "upgrade" , I for one only look at this site usually once per day, here at work we have a very fast system, even then it loads uncomfortably slow... it's just too hard to enjoy too often...

Slow loading speeds?
I really have not experienced this? Maybe it's affecting those not in the US?
Then again, I do have a 20/2 pipe. Perhaps those on dialup should consider getting with the times :)

I don't know the figures/stats but I'm told we here in Oz have the most primitive internet system? (no idea on computer issues), but no dial-up this end, my own system is considered quite quick (the one at work, where I wrote my earlier comment, is over the top quick(?) ) and this forum (the only one that does it, mind you) still takes up to 15 secs to open a page... zzzzzzzz

Can we see pics of the 20/2 pipe. What does it sound like? Any HP gain?

I will add my voice to the bitching, they are really annoying and with the dark background setting they make the message impossible to read, please loose them now!
We could also change them slightly, Byke and Speeed works for me rather than Bike and speed, or just keep bitching

Sorry TWD, it doesn't work Yes, I edited one of my posts where a key word had been "green underlined"; I removed the word, saved. I added the word again and re-saved. I then exited and returned... it was back again.
Clearly their have an add engine which searches all posts for keywords and then links to the appropriate URL.
It's a shame because this forum is possibly the worst I have seen for speed of loading and volume of adverts (hence the slow speed). One of the best is (again, IMHO ) is K-Bikes; the problem here is that they don't discuss the wonderful 1400 GTR
What's the solution? I guess if we all agreed to subscribe and pay £/$ to this forum, then this would reduce the need for advertisements; and/or how about Kawasaki sponsoring this forum and then we'd all be very happy

I think I know why I'm one of the few not complaining about the ads on here.
On my system, the only ad I see is the one on the far top left for becoming a premium member. I use firefox, along with a firewall/popup/ad blocker. I also have an extension that prevents embedded flash ads from automatically loading.
If you're on the internet these days, a firewall is indeed a mandatory requirement IMO.
The main http://www.zxforums.com/forums/gtr-1400-forum/ page takes about 5 seconds to load and render if not cached. Less if cached. Each subsequent thread takes about 2 seconds if it doesn't contain inline pictures. I never notice the delays in loading of each thread though. My habit is to go down the list of threads, opening those I want to read in separate tabs (in IE or firefox). By the time im done going down the list, all the tabs are loaded and ready to be read.
Edit, regarding the color, I think the profile section contains several different color schemes to choose from. Personally I've always preferred a dark back ground. Easier on my eyes than white.

Firefox is a superior replacement for internet explorer.

A different browser will help I think, but the key is to get rid of those ads. Only an ad blocker (or firewall with ad/popup blocking) will fix that. The flash crap slows things down too. FF has a plug in called "flashblock" which prevents the render engine from loading the flash stuff unless you permit it for that page or click on the flash icon. I have very few sites if any in the white list.
http://flashblock.mozdev.org/
For my av/firewall, I use kaspersky internet security 7.
Here's some pdf's of what it looks like here. File names are self explanatory.

Well I can't see why; I'm using Firefox and I get the green underlines links
No, this functionality is part of the site itself and the browser is merely interpreting the code. I don't believe that we can do anything except approach the site administrator and convince them to disable it and recover the revenue from other sources.
