GTR1400 - 2007 vs 2008?

Hi. I'm planning on part-ex'g my 2007 Suzuki GSX R750 for a GTR1400. Is there any difference between a 2007 and 2008 model? Also, which colour is most popular - I think I prefer black. Finally, many dealers are advertising bikes at 'Best UK Price' with an RRP of £10,995. Any views on what I might expect to pay OTR? Many thanks.

Welcome....

There is no 2007 1400GTR only the 2008 model. The 2009 model has not been announced but I doubt very much whether there will be any changes at all bar a few very minor cosmetic adjustments. Most dealers in the UK are selling for around the £10995 mark some a little less but beware of some grey import C-14 models for about £1G less which will cause you grief regarding service and warrenty. You can haggle with regards adding a 4 year warrenty instead of the 2year standard but expect to pay around list OTR with 1 year RFL. Get one from an official K dealer and check that the two current recalls have been done. (rack and pannier locks). Only Euro models have the Diablo Black option but both colours are as popular with black being the favorite of previous sport bike riders. Black looks great when clean.
don't delay buy today

Hello robmeister1969

Though the marketing code is the same, the 2008 1400GTR can be divided into two kinds according to the improvement.

(1) 2008 1400GTRⅠ: Before the improvement
(2) 2008 1400GTRⅡ: After the improvement

A certain Kawasaki dealer call the latter "Ⅱ type".

Cf. “2009 1400GTR” (#141), “Kawasaki 1400GTR and Concours14”
   1400GTR (EUR)/ COCOURS14 ABS/ COCOURS14 (USA), 2008 MODEL INFORMATION

I paid £9950 OTR last Nov 2007 full UK spec in black 6 months tax. Came from Almaxx Motorcycles Prescot Road Melling Liverpool Merseyside L31 1AR Tel: 0151 520 0026 .They get them from Upholland Motorcycles.
I have dealt with Alex at Almaxx before. He's a good guy. Ex copper. My Pan Euro came from him new in 2001. If he says he will ring back in 15 mins, 15 mins it is. Tell him James mather bought one from him in November and recommended him. I rang him. He came back with the price and availability. I paid £500 deposit by switch. He rang me a week later and said the bike was ready. He has to pay up front so I then sent him the money by wire (costs £10 in the bank) and I collected the day or two after. I didnt even go to the shop except to collect although I had been there once before to collect my Pan when I actually took cash on the day. It's a small shop but his service is great. He is about 1hr from me fortunately but 3.5hrs from Surrey
I could have got parallel import form Taz, Peterborough for £9,500 otr with 12 months tax but the advantage of full UK warranty rather than shop warranty is worth an extra £450 IMHO. I didnt want shop warranty from dealer 3 hrs drive away!
I think you could get UK spec if u r quick before the weather gets better for £9.5 - £10k. Good luck. Enjoy shopping.
Kwak do extra 2 years warranty (4 years total)for £200 available any time in 1st year. Essential too and cheap.
Welcome to the "club".
This and the US site are brilliant.

Lots of things to farkle on a GTR. Heated grips, air horn, intercom, GPS, accessory wires (well hidden), screen, can, rack, headlamp adjusting knobs, rear hugger (one day), fender extender, rad guard, and lots more. All details can be found on here.
Plus the two recall items: 1) the sidecase to bike, hook latches, should be orange not red. Red are old ones subject to recall (the cases can fall off!!). Get dealer to change the lock assemblies. 2) The rear rack is also shite and subject to recall too. Get dealer to do both before delivery. Mine have to be done when I get the 1st service done. I have only managed 200 miles thus far due to salty roads and ice etc.
Dont let the niggles with the bike put you off. It is awesome.

Fantastic responses - thanks. I've now done the deed and committed to buying a black GTR. I had various prices to change, and pushed my nearest Kawa dealer, Portman in Guildford, to match the best offer I had as I value local main dealer service. It's a small store but so far service has been very good and I think I have a reasonable price on a few extras - alarm, top box, heated grips, etc. Looking forward to picking it up as soon as I return from holiday in a couple of weeks!

What's the price of the pound towards the dollar now? I dropped down $12,000 U.S. for mine out the door. Happy I'm not in Germany or England buying one with them prices. Indeed I agree the black is more costly and faster so I hear. We do get a 3 year factory warr. Sux you guys only get 2 years over there. Can anyone tell me why? I've got about everything done to it and ride everyday. K&N,Two-Bros can, PCIII, Flies out., CoX grill, Fender extender, Throttlemeister. Just need to get a rear box. Shad? or GIVI? 46L or 52L? painted or not? Just can't make up my mind right now. Just hit over 1000miles on it. Sold my GXSR-1000 and GSXR-600 and my friend can't believe I crossed over. Shit, I'm almost forty and just got off the tracks for a break. Think I can run this one on the racetrack and get it over enough to slid the pucks. I'll send you all some photos the next track day event. Havn't seen any post of anyone doing Donnington race park. Houston weather is like spring and summer all year long. Gotta love it!!!!
