New to the game.
Hows it goin eh? Are Canadians allowed... I know I can only ride 8 months of the year... if I'm lucky.
O.k. jokes aside. Just bought my first bike in July, it's a 1986' ZX 1000r ninja. Loved every minute of it, specially when my truck got stolen and it was my only way of getting around. Overall the bike has treated me really well after I fixed up some of the things the the previous owner had done. i.e. wire on the masterlink! and other things like that.
Had my first wipe allready, little to much power during a wet day coming off a stopsign turning left. Put me over into some grass, but get this, NO FAIRING DAMAGE, my jacket came away worse than the bike. (stupid sidewalk...) Anyway praise God, Amen, and all that.
INFO
Been impressed though it's got aftermaket K&N air filters, only 35,000 Km's on it. I bought it for $3000 CDN, Battle-axe tires, replaced all the stock bulbs with LED's this summer for better visibility, and right know it's stripped down so I can make sure it'll keep running strong. (am I allowed to write how fast she goes???) Oh, and my favourite, I got it with a Corbin Seat, oh I love that thing.
PROBLEMS thus far - Wiring??? Kills when I have handle-bars turned to a certain degree on the left. Does NOT like the rain. Sometimes when crawling along slowly will kill (feels like a *safety* is being activated.) Lot of the sheaths that hold the wires together are cracked.
Chain and sprockets in rough shape purchasing new ones for next season (will ask later about what aftermarket to go for, cuz they want $900 for an OEM chain and Sprockets)
Looks like some corrosion in the coolant system, just got it flushed and there was more brown than I would like so I'm keepin an eye on that.
Aesthetics
Aftermarket paint has no sheen, would like to get it repainted actual Kawasaki colors (THE green, or maybe black) oh and get some decals on it.) Some fairing damage from a curb. Windscreen is terrible, want to get a smoked one. (is it possible to get one that'll push the wind up a little higher as well?)
Anyway excited to have found this place, looking forward to tapping into the collective knowledge, and maybe bringing some ideas of my own.
Later~
Pic of my ZX - http://picasaweb.google.com/Drewfuspx/MotorcycleStuff - some pictures, better than me slowin down the forum I figure.

The bike i've got takes "1157" bulbs. So I went on down to Canadian Tire (unsure of an american equivelent) and found some L.E.D. replacements. They really sharpened up the look of the lights, not to mention saves me some voltage. You can also look around on E-Bay, there are some neat little bulbs that fit right into the stock socket.
Hope it helps.

D'oh. I have 1157's in my Ram. Never thought a bike would have "auto" lamps. Do you have the problem of the L.E.D's not drawing enough current to work the blinkers?

Well actually I guess I didn't really explain myself well. I've only replaced the brake lights thus far. I've never heard of that problem before though... I'll have to go and switch some bulbs around to see, will get back to you when I find out... Oh and another thing to check, my blinkers in the front are 1157's but in the back are 1156's. Dunno why.
I was surprized as well to find out that they used them, what surprized me more is that I think KAwasaki still does. If you look closely at the ZX-14 it looks like it's still using 1157's for the blinkers, but not the brake lights.
Anyway later.
P.s. (is it allright that we are talkin about this here, or should this be under another section?)

baah! dont stress much mate, just chat......forums are better if your a little more casual. nice ride buy the way. As for the age of the bike, its probable the wiring may have deteriorated over time....... look for green build up on the copper. It may be cheaper to replace the wiring loom than fix bits here and there.
Anyhoo have fun

Hey that's cool, thanks for the advice about the wiring. I will admit I have no idea where to start. I grew up on the farm so I know the basics of what "looks" right as far as wiring, but then again I know that most stuff if you grind it and then cover it with duct tape tends to work just fine... SO yeah. My first thought now that i've got the bike all stripped down is definately going to be to look for that problem see which wires are moving with the handle-bars. (which will probably be all of them) and then see what the connections are like. Anyway i'll post more about it when I get into the "oh - crap my bike won't start anymore" part of the blog :) Later!

I just recently found this site. I spent a lot of time on Sport-Touring.net which is not up and running at this time. I work at a bike shop here in NY. I ride a ZX11D and am in the process of restoring a 85 ZX900A2.

HeY ... i'm only 21 but been riding since the age of 6. Had a ysr50 then a KX80 dirtbike. At the age of 12 i started riding sportbikes. Had a suz Gs500 , then switched to a YZF 750 as track bikes. At the age of 16 i drove a 1985 Honda interceptor 1000. The year after a 1996 Kawi ZX-6 , 1991 gsx-r 750 crashed the gixxer so traded it for a 2001 gixxer 750. Sold the 2001 gixxer and traded for a 2004 gixxer 750 that i owned for 2 weeks. Went down hard so stoped riding for 1 season. Came back with my 2001 zx-12r last summer and bought a 2003 rc51 track bike this summer and a 1998 Kawi zx-6 that i will rebuilt this winter and sell in spring !

What's up all. Newbie to the forum as well as street riding. Name is Paul and I just bought a 06' 10R. Still working on the break in period and due for an oil change soon. Live in Northwestern Florida, a.k.a. the Panhandle, a.k.a. southern Alabama.
Love the ride and am still kicking around which break in is best, think I am going to ride her like shes a virgin and ease her in.
I will get some pics up soon.

I don't know if I ever posted in this thread before. I'm Ted, I have an 04 zx10R with a Boz Bros moira system on it, and a few other goodies in the works (winter = lazily uprading). Spring will have new pics with upgrades and all.

Hey all. I'm new to the board. My first ride was an '01 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Classic (I just sold her last week). My second ride was an '06 HD Ultra Classic (picked it up last winter and still have it for touring with the old lady). My third ride I had only for a short while was an '06 Suzuki M109R. But I traded it in for my '07 Kawasaki ZX-14. Breaking it in now. Wow, sportbikes are another world from cruisers and sport cruisers that's for sure.
Oh, and I live and work in Las Vegas.

Hi.....I'm new to the forum, thought I'd join up and join in the fun.....I am a riding junkie, the more I do, the more I want...(go figure)
I ride a 06 GSXR750, love the bike, handles like a dream in the corners, but still has enough spunk to satisfy me in the straights. And being a female it was one of the few bikes on the market these days that actually fit me without any lowering mods, which was great as I did not want to compromise any of the handling.
Before this bike I had a 2000 CBR600FI, that bike could take a licking and keep in ticking, but, as most riders, I came to need more....more power, more speed, more handling......
