It's cold -heated jacket liner is awesome
well it's that time of year. I didn't want to put away the zx6r this winter so soon. I bought a heated jacket liner and heated grips from ebay.
they are awesome and make it a pleasure to ride in the cold.
i put the jacket liner on first (obviously), put my bike jacket on next, then a big old carhart brown jacket. it's not terribly bulky and very toasty warm on the lowest setting.
the heated grips are awesome too. very warm on low.
the grips use 6 amps total, the jacket liner uses 8 amps total on high.
your bike will need 14 spare amps from the charging system wihich should not be a problem for most modern bikes.
i recommend them for anyone who lives where it gets cold.

I went with heated gloves rather than grips so I could easily transfer the equipment from my current ride to another. This would only involve removing the heat harnesses from the machine and installing them elsewhere, of if I had more than one bike, the harnesses are less than $20. Only drawback with the gloves as opposed to heated grips is their bulk.

I thought about the gloves but thought they were pretty bulky. I was also concerned about the longevity of the electrical heating conductors in the gloves due to the nature of gripping the bars and the wear and tear they get on your hands.

I guess I am pretty fortunate this year, so far we are still managing to hit the low 60's. I am guessing that by the time I would need heated gear snow will be falling. Tends to be how it is here, one extreme to the other.

Don't know about other brands, but Gerbings are guaranteed for life. Spoke to a guy on another forum who had the heating element in one Gerbing glove go bad and they sent him a brand-new pair.
