A Hello from Aprilia
Hello Everybody,
My name is Mike and I work for aprilia(might as well be honest) and I've been riding for a little over 3 years. There really is no experience like it.
Anyways, I decided to join this forum because I've been checking it for a while and I get a lot of good information from the members.
I was curious to know what everyone thinks about the new Aprilia V4, especially being four-cylinder engine riders. The price on the RSV4R is $15,999 which is about $4,200 more than a ZX-10R, which ain't nothing to sneeze at.
I look forward to connecting with everyone.

I think if I could afford one I wouldn't be on a Kawi... but who knows?

LOVE IT. I'm also "mad" on apriliaforum.com by the way.
I just don't care for the superbikes on the street right now and I'd have to track it. What I'm waiting for is the Tuono V4. That may make it's way into my garage. Got my eye on 3 or 4 bikes right now for future additions. We shall see.

Huh... I'm exactly the opposite. My literbike is like the perfect street weapon. It's fast as hell from idle to redline, and does everything well. Running it on the track, while fun, is both awkward and distasteful. Give me a revvy little ZX6 for the track any day of the week. If I could afford more toys, I would most definitely have a raced out '05 636 exclusively for a track whore. On the street though, I'm happy as a clam. A big ZX14 would be nice for long hauls across state lines, but as long as I'm local this bike is tits. A 1K Aprilia? Even better!

The Aprilia bikes are really awesome but I can’t afford one. They are like unreachable dream bikes to me! I will soon shop for another bike but it’s like 99% chances it will be another Kawasaki.

I love the look of Aprilias and dig the fact that they are on the rare side but the price tag hurts. If I were in the market for a new bike, I would probably still buy Japanese just because of the lower price tag.

if i can walk it out the door for 13k flat, i'd get one. but the great fold at kawasaki said whenever i'm ready, i can walk out one of their zx10r for 9k flat, and even if the rsv4 does do a little better, it's not enough of a difference for me to spend that much. i'm a student, i work hard for my money. plus loyalty have been a 2 way street for me

Are they really that much "better" of a bike or are they just a different bike? Are they more desirable because they are a little more unattainable? Kinda like there's hot chicks here but everyone overreacts when they see a Europian model?

Love the new Rsv4 especially what you guys are doing in Wsbk but with a price tag like that would not be in my mind to get one plus maintenance and labor cost at Aprilia dealerships are crazy high... If they match them with japanese prices for sure i would get one... you might even turn the ducatista to your side too

if i was in the market for a new liter bike
i don't think the price is out of line not saying the extra 5k will be ez to come up with, but it comes with top shelf brakes and suspension and forged aluminum wheels, factory steering damper so alot of the money that would go into mods wouldn't

I love the sound and look of the new Aprilia V4. Havent had the pleasure of trying one. The price tag does hurt which is why I probably won't ever have one in the stable but it would deff. be nice.

I definitely understand the price issue, I couldn't afford one myself right now. Also, where and how you ride will definitely be big factor in what you purchase next.
With respect to maintenance and service, the valve adjustment intervals (for the V-Twin 990's and the new V4) are the same as a Kawasaki inline four and the other Japanese OEM's.
The first valve adjustment on the Aprilia V-Twin and V4 is at 12,500, which, I believe, is the same as a ZX-10R or ZX-6R.
The Shiver and Dorsoduro models have the same maintenance intervals as well.
Prices on service differ from dealer to dealer but I'll check around with some dealers to find out what they charge. I'd like to find a multi-line dealer that carries both Kawi and Aprilia and see if there's a difference.

Actually the first valve adjustment for the 6r is 15,000. Im pretty sure the same interval goes for the 10r as well

I wanna quote Carbon636 here:
"They all sound like toasters to me" in reference to the V-Twins
I like the sound of a refind V-twin and the V4 dont sound bad either. Just thought it was funny and seemed slightly appropriate. = ) lol

I like the sound, don't think it is quite the same as an aftermarket exhaust on an inline 4 in the high RPMs but I do like the sound

The V4 sounded amazing at SBK at Miller. The inline four still has the classic road race sound to me though.
Did anyone hear the buell 1125 at any of the ama races? That thing sounded like a freight train!

If BMW can come in at $13,800 on their new liter bike, I assume Aprilia could do better.
