Question New ride and a couple of questions...

Just purchased an '88 ZX-10 with 32,000 km/s - really nice condition. I'm not familiar at all with these bikes. Far as I know was not used as track bike and is all original except for tires, exhaust, some bolt on accessories... I'm not looking to race - just ride.

>>Was wondering --the PO put a jet kit in and it is running way too rich. Can this be switched back easily or should I just try a K&N filter instead?

>>Also when cold the engine has a rattle not a knock but seems to go away mostly when warm and off the rear stand. Other than that at this point it seems fine.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated! Pics to follow...

Jets can be a pain to swap out here and there but shouldn't pose too much of a problem if you've got some decent tools and some know-how.

As for the knock, I can't really help much without hearing it. But you may have to check out your valve clearances and make sure you're not knocking hard parts.

Good luck and congrats on the new ride. Ride safe.

Thanks, I will let you know how I make out. According to the history of the bike the valves were adjusted about 5,000 km/s ago so will dig deeper.

It turned out ALL good, the exhaust was slightly loose and rattling and the running rich issue will be solved by the good folks at K&N...
I'm learning and now stoked that the bike is in such great shape!

Cheers
