awkward angle

hello again ery body, i need some help by means of a picture. made a bet that im not fixin to lose. what im trying to get is a shot from behind the windscreen(2003 636), like if you where sitting on the bike looking at the gauges. or measure from the top of the windscreen straight down, that would do it too. any help would be much appreciated.

What for? Did have anything to do with the gauges being cut in half by the winshield in a normal cruising position?

Hmmm. If I had an 03-04 I'd snap a quick shot but I don't...hopefully someone else will hook you up.

Sand all the paint off clean and the spray a high quality clearcoat on it to help with maintenance and everything else

I sanded the frame, clear coated it, polished and waxed it! Superb! Well worth the effort!

May actually want to look into a aircraft paint stripper, or automobile metal stripper. Will increase the chance of you not scratching up the metal when you are sanding. May take a couple coats of the stripper but it works. I used some I got at autozone on my engine covers. Good luck

If your frame is painted now and your goal is to have a bare metal/polished look, you will need to tear the bike down and strip the frame or it will look getto. You can get aerosol stripper at any hardware store. As far as what grit, you shouldn't need sand paper. Unless the frame is all scratched up, it should be like a baby's bottom once the stripper lifts the paint. Use a small, course nylon brush and more stripper for the nooks & crannys. Don't use a steel or brass brush cuz it will scratch the aluminum frame. Most of the paint strippers will wash off with water. And you can use acetone for a final wipe-down. It will remove any residue and not leave any so it's ready for clearcoat. It's a lotta prep work. But if that's the look you like, it's worth doing it right. If you aren't willing to tear it down and do all the prep, it will look like ass and you'll wish you would've left it alone.

Here is what I used. Again I wasn't thinking when I said sand it down. This will give you a much better result. Worked really well. I used a couple of coats but it did its job and gave me a nice base to work with when I did my engine covers. Got it at autozone for like 7 or 8 bucks. Other than that info go with what rrzxter said. He has a good bit of experience with paint and I would trust what he says. As far as a clear coat goes. You could look at colorrite.com they have some clear coats or you could talk to an auto body shop and ask them for recommendations. Good luck
