Someone here will chirp up how great and beautiful a stretch is, personally, I think they look completely retarded from an asthetic standpoint, obviously ALL the big bike companies see a stretch as useful as Honey coated building bricks in your underwear.

I am with bulldog on the going back to stock deal. There are some major benefits to taking your bike back to stock length. Now you will be able to corner like the bike was make to, you will be able to maneuver through tight parking lots like a stock bike, and you will be able to make u-turns form a stop, and not have to duck waddle it like I see other guys do I Ocean City Maryland with their stretched bikes. That is just a few. I personally can not stand stretched bikes. Go back to stock.

Stretching, adding a fat tire kit, both, etc. will affect the handling of the bike. It will make it easier to take off off the line (good for holeshot, harder to wheelie) but will not turn as nicely. Your suspension will be affected as well. Since you are lengthening the bike, you will probably need to lower the rear.

There's probably more but I don't have an extended bike. Some one who does will post up I'm sure.

say carving in and out of twistys or tight corners on a track will be hard to make with the stretch even at 6"s. asking because im a street rider i like going down the street and hitting awesome curves and want to speed time on a race track not interested really interested in 1/4 mile times on a bike

If you are wanting to ride at the track you deff. ought to consider returning the swingarm to stock length. It will make it alot easier to handle

If you are dragracing, a stretched swingarm can help keep the front wheel down and transfer more hp to the rear. Some guys think a stretch looks "cool" on a streetbike, but those who know how it affects handling and feel think it looks silly. Stretching turns a perfectly good piece of transportation into a comic-book toy.

if its only stretched 6inch you may as well go back to stock.
6inch isnt really enough for a purpose

Drag Racing + Stretched = Yes
Curvy Roads + Stock Length = Yes
I guess the answer is yes.

Ive never ridden a stretched bike , nor do i really want to , but its easy to say that a stretched one wont take a curve like a stock bike. Its one of those right tool for the right job , if you plan on burning up a curvy road with a stretched bike youre using the wrong tool. not to say it cant be done , but the enjoyment factor wont be as high as it would be if you were doing it with a stock swingarm.

There is only one real reason to stretch the rear-end of a bike and that is to keep the front end down when drag racing (and all the reasons why you want the front to stay down). If you're not drag racing, there is absolutely NO benefit to doing it, it's just because you think it looks "cool". I used to love going to cruise night, all the stretched Busa's and 14's, all painted up and chromed out and they were on the kick-stand all night while idiots like me were dragging the 1/8 mi for fun on our 6's and 10's. If you bought the bike like that and like how it looks, I say leave it. It's not like you wasted a bunch of money on a mod you don't even use. But if you want to experience how fun the bike really is, I say put the stock swing arm back on and have someone tune your suspension specificly for you.

I never understood stretching a bike. I saw a stretched gixxer the other day driving it looks dumb. Its like he is riding one of those Tonka trucks on two wheels...just dumb. Then it hit me...pretty much any gixxer is dumb,

On a side note, the look of a stock gixxer isnt that bad...

i agree with everyone on this one, but personally, i like'm both ways. i love twisties, but i also drag race ! depends on what you want to do with your bike, but as you stated, you are not interested in quarter mile times, so, i say go back to stock. i would never think of stretching my ZX-7. my ZX-7 is for the twisties, my Eliminators (ZL900's) are for drag racing ! goodluck with whatever you decide ! Thanks for the input from all of you guys that voiced your opinions. I think since I have finally arrived in Ft Hood I will be able to ride it and make my decisions from there. If I do go back stock im sure someone would want my extended swingarm.
