Sewing Kevlar Fabric into my Jeans
Hi Guys,
My first post so sorry if this is in the wrong section : )
I've been trying to find some kevlar lined jeans/combat trousers but I don't like any styles ive seen.
I was thinking about sewing some kevlar fabric into my jeans and combats. My only problem is I have no idea of what to look for in "quality" kevlar. I've had a quick look on the web and found this source:
http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.u...ave-p-565.html
My first impressions is that it might be a little thin. My neighbour is a seamstress and I was going to ask her to sew the fabric in for me using Kevlar Thread.
Does anybody have any advice/places where I might be able to purchase some quality kevlar from (i'm from the UK)
Thanks,

Not to discourage your ingenuity, but I think you would be better off purchasing a purpose-crafted item. I doubt the monetary savings would justify doing it yourself, when it comes to your safety. The gear that I've seen isn't too expensive and has padding as well as the kevlar treatments. My 2 cents.

Kevlar itself is no thicker than standard denim. It's multiple layers of the stuff that stops bullets. Anyway, you could put in two layers if it makes you feel more comfortable.

Possibly...
Nah, I just got on and I'm trying to knock some "foruming" out before I have to leave.

Could be cheaper than wasting time trying to buy and sew in your own.

There's lots of cool, lightweight padded/armored gear you can buy to wear under ordinary jeans as well.

Ha ...thanks for the opinions :)
If i could simply order some off the internet i would be fine but I can't. I've always been a funny size so i need to try stuff on before I buy. All the places i've been to are selling crap !!

Congrats! Let us know how they work out. As a "next step" I'd go for the strap on knee/shin stuff for under your jeans or the armored pull on underwear. Good stuff...protection.

I''ve got three pairs of the dragginjeans and would recommend. They have a nice fit, look great and they actually do work. I laid my brothers dirt bike down after hitting gravel on a corner and walked away with some minor road rash. That was my first pair, after that I bought 2 more pairs of jeans and two shirts.

I have bulletproof jeans.
http://www.bulletproofclothingco.co.uk/
They look like regular jeans from the outiside. No visible stitching around the knees like with some other motorcycle jeans. Has internal pockets in the hips, arse and knees for armour. Best jeans you can buy IMO.

Dude... I dunno about you, but one of the last things I'd want to do is pull up to a group ride and be like "hey guys, like my new pants, I JUST finishing making them!"
