I just bought my first 636 a few weeks ago. The bike has Michelin Pilot Power tires 120/60 in front 180/55 in back. The bike has seen some days at the track and the tires show it on the corners. What do you guys think of these tires. Are they worth getting again?

I don't think they are 2ct's. It just says Pilot power.... Whats a good measurement for tread wear? Does the "stick a penny in the tread and if it barely touches Abe's head" trick work?

Sorry, that was somewhat cryptic. What I meant was that if you liked them, you should try the 2CTs since they're just a little more money.
As for measurement, check the wear bars in the tread.

I have been trying to decide between the PP2ct's and the Pirelli Diablo Corsa IIIs. I have Corsa's on there now and have no complaints but not sure if I want to try something new or not. You know?

that's a good point. I guess Im just skeptical on trying something new when the product I have been using has had no problems. But then on the other note it is a good idea to be well rounded and know as much as you can about everything you can.

Try the 2CTs next. They steer faster than the Corsa IIIs and they give a little more mileage. both tires are good for trackdays. You can always go back to the Corsa III's for the next set. I like the 2ct's a lot. I happen to like the pirelli/metzeler a little better. Me, I'm a Rosso fanboy.

My thoughts are, get a price on line and print it out, then bring it to your local guy because he'll usually try his damnedest to match it or at least come close.

Doing routine inspection I noticed a small screw in my back tire this morning
Looking online for some prices, found a set of pilot power 2ct for $315
I've had 2 sets of Dunlop Qualifiers, the damn things seem to wear out to quick for me.... these pilot power seem to have a good rep, might give them a try.

$315 for the SET?! Who cares how long they last! That's an awesome price, just the rear retails for close to $300.

JBear, you need to look at Bikebandit.com if you're looking for tires. You could outfit your bike for about $340. I've been lucky enough to find a shop that is really competitive with online prices and picked up a set of 016's last week for $243 and could have gotten M3's for $278 which is right in line with BikeBandit.com which was the cheapest I could find anywhere. Just thought I'd let you know.

By the way, JBear, are you on vacation or something? You've been posting like a madman.

It's easy to keep up with Shifty: just hit every new user topic and say "welcome to the forums."
I don't think I've been posting more than usual lately...
I'm actually not looking for tires, but when I did put my 2CTs on I paid about $350 for them. That was last year though. I had to replace the rear a month or so ago and the cheapest price anywhere online was $230, and I couldn't wait. I ended up paying my local shop $275 for one and had it back an hour later. Oh well.

^^OUCH! Burn
Shifty has alot to add to topics other than welcoming everyone. Which is part of your job as a forum leader isn't it?
Im lookin at 300 or so for the front and back pilot power 2ct and then about 90 for install. Wondering and hoping my shop can make me a good deal. Gotta go get oil for my dads bike tomorrow anyway so I will talk to them then

$90?! I hope that's on the bike. If not, you're getting ripped off.
