Question overtorqued front wheel cause fork leakage?

greetings folks
recently noticed fork oil present on the tube, figured i blew the seal with a hard wheelie. but it wasn't leaking very badly, but i decided to get er fixed anyway.
the shop tells me they're having a hard time getting the bottom bolts out, and asked me if i had tires installed recently (i have)
turns out the new guy at the tire shop overtorqued the front axle bolt to the point of mushrooming the spacer/nut thingie that the axle screws into.
also the shop said that by overtorquing the forks weren't riding straight up and down, causing the leakage.
ever heard of this?
it only costed me another hours labor, they had to file down that spacer thingie that was pretty mangled.
thanks
craig

Sounds to me like if they had to take that hour's labor from someone it should have been the new guy who fucked it up, not you.

Yea I'd have the mechanic take pics of the damage and have the original shop cover the damages and labor. Its not your fault shops allow idiots to work under their wing
