passing inspection in nj

just got my first bike and im being told if i got an aftermarket exhaust system, which i do, it wont pass emissions or something....anybody know what it would take to fail inspection??????thanks

That's what I've been told as well by fellow sport bike riders. I don't really know if it is just one of those "urban legends" or is actually legit. I just take my bike to a local dealer and pay a few dollars for the inspection...needless to say, none of my bikes has ever failed inspection
