Go take the MSF course and come back. I seriously wouldn't think about gettin a 14 at 15/16yrs. The insurance is OUTRAGIOUS. Besides, at this point, your not riding to impress, your riding to get a good feel of it and to better yourself at it. That way, when you do get your actual bike, you won't make stupid mistakes. I mean, after all, you wouldn't jump right into highschool without going to elementary or middle school now would u?

How do you know you want a ZX14? What have you ridden? At your weight you'll want a stronger bike than some people need, but my buddy is 205 and he has no trouble kicking ass with his ZZR600, with his girl on the back the load is 100lbs more than you weigh and he has no trouble keeping up with me on my ZX10. These aren't like cruising bikes where a 600cc can't get out of it's own way with a 150lb rider, these things are all fast.
for the rider safety course. It will usually cut you a small break on insurance too.

I would have to agree with some of the other members.. Get a smaller cc bike to start off with and definitely take a safety coarse.. Be safe safe in what ever you decide to ride....

I hope it doesn't sound like I'm saying you need to start with a small bike. Everyone said my 1000 was way too much for a starter bike, and that was bullshit. It's only as fast as the rider lets it be, it's all about discipline. What I do think is that you should take the course, get the license, and go to a used dealer with a lot of bikes and start by trying out a ZX6, then a ZX7, etc, until you find the size that's good for you. Until you've ridden them all, what you think you need may or may not be what you end up wanting, and ZX14's aren't cheap. That's a lot to pay to find out later it was a mistake.

I am 6'2 and 215 and ride a zx6 and have had many other bikes, most bigger 750-1100 and I think I have more fun on the 6 because I can man handle it through the twistys. get a 600 and you will still s#*t yourself when you open her up.

15 and looking at a zx14? Can you sign me over as the beneficiary?
I've been riding for 40 some years and was still scared to buy an 07 zx14. It was a midlife crisis present to myself.
Like the other guys said, you'll be lucky to even get insurance. I have a perfect record and just dropped mine from $1000 a year to $650.
I'd like to know how you're going to pay for it.

Damn, you must be filthy rich and spoiled by parents if they're going to buy you a ZX-14, the insurance will probably be upwards of 1600 a year if your getting collision. I had to pay for my own bike, started working in summer at 15, as well as 16, and had enough to buy a ZX6R and pay for the insurance, but I find it to hard to believe you made 12 grand on your own at 15 and plan to insure it by yourself to.
There is just no logical reason to have a ZX-14 as your first bike, what's wrong with a ZX6R? Even at your size it will still probably take you over 150 miles an hour. How fast do you really need to go on public roads?

OR maybe he didn't like what we said and is just going from forum to forum till he gets what he wants to hear, like "Yea, it's a perfect 1st bike, I think you should get a Busa though." Might take a while to get to the gixxer forum though, he should be there in no time if he asks around. Then he'll show his dad pages and pages full of "Go for it man.

First post here, and when I read this I almost spat my coffee through the screen , "First bike" well you will do what you want too, but personally I think, it's not how big you are, and wanting the super fast bike, I suspect there could be some bragging right's with buddies involved here too, seriously man grab a more cost effective bike (bike & insurance wise ) ride the snot out of it and then with the knowledge you gain from that , then buy the bigger ZX 14, because it's not how FAST the bike goes really , but the skill of the rider that can control it.
PLUS dont give your Mom a friggin heart attack by grabbing the fastest beastola on the planet, ease your parents into this gently, afteral your only 15, you got YEARS of riding in front of you.
