What's your shift light set to?

I was just wondering at what RPM is ur shift light set to and at what RPM do u shift when on the track. I have mine set at 9500 and only been to the track a few times and my bike seems to perfom best when shifting at about 10500.

I believe I have mine set at 11.5k rpms on my zx10. By the time I notice the light, I'm already coming up to redline. The only power drop off I can feel is if I hit the rev limiter

I have air shifter with auto shift. The auto shift works off a MSD box that has different chips that correspond to rpm. Mine has the 11,200 chip in it. I just launch and hold it wide open, as soon as it hits 11.2 it shifts on its own. The 12's rev limiter comes in at 11.4 so I went with 11.2 to make sure I got the most out of it without hitting the limiter.

Bought the kit from schnitzracing.com . I originally bought the Muzzy kit but it was overly complicated. I returned it in favor of the MPS kit. I think about $800 to schnitz. Then you have to buy more stuff. The air tanks sold for paintball guns are rated for higher psi than the ones in the shifter kits, so I got one of those from the paintball store (rated to 3000 psi). And of course, the kit comes with crappy nylon air lines. Those go in the garbage in favor of $300 worth of steel lines and fittings. The nylon lines burst frequently. Better to just pay the money and only do those lines once. Plus labor (I like turning throttles more than turning wrenches). All together I think it was about $2000.
Its worth it though! You have that ZX14 in good shape, now you need the air shifter!

I intend on getting one as my next mod but money is kinda tight right now so I'll have to wait and see how the new year treats me.

Personally, I didn't know you could SET the shift light, I just go based on the loudness of the engine, and how she feels in that particular gear, and shift up accordingly. Does paying attention to the shift light help get better times?
