Oh ya.
Either way, I was just messing with John. He needs a good thrashing once in awhile to keep him inline.

2008 they made some engine and exhaust changes that helped the lower end power band. The 06 and 07 were a little sluggish below 4,000rpm, if you can call a 14 a slug.

i would like go test drive a new 2010 10R.
do most dealerships let you test drive new bikes like that?
i want to see how it feels b4 i got shoping around for one..
|
When I bought my bike the dealership basically made me do all the paperwork, write the check out to them and basically sell me the bike before they let me test it. I think that is pretty standard. The owner had said 4 people dropped test bikes that month and they were ditching the bikes in the parking lot.

Highly doubt you will get a test drive, normally they won't let you unless you are much older, for whatever reason they trust older guys than us lol

keeping my 08 6r forever too, i am getting a 10r maybe next month. good deals now.
insurance is going to be the killer for me. I finally got good rates on the 6r full coverage, disability insurance, body injury etc, but progressive and state farm seem to get their panties in a bunch when you start getting over 600 cc's. It would be almost cheaper for me to pay for a custom fabbed turbo kit so i can have power like a 1000 cc but still keep the insurance in check.

I'll probably have to wait (financially) for 2011. I am planning on a ZX6 after renting an '09 the other day. I wish I had crashed my 650r harder now and written it off as an excuse!

Why would anyone wait that long when the current 10 is awesome? And what if the 2012 isn't what you say it will be? Although a cross plain crank, woowee!

Indeed. I won't say I don't love the looks of the last few years of R1, because I do. They're a hell of a lot sexier than the new 10R. On the other hand (the hand that matters) almost every mag I read has dubbed the new 10R the best literbike out there, and almost without exception greeted Yami's new cross plain crank with a hearty immediately followed by a "where's the beef?". So I have to ask myself why Kawi would follow in Yami's footsteps and neuter the baddest ten on the planet with a fancy new crank that sounds ten times greater than it is. Then there's the one rag that dubbed the new R1 "Bike of the Year", which ironically isn't a sport bike magazine... maybe they like their bikes slow? Dunno, they weren't crazy about the fatass new GSXR1000, so I guess it's some sort of paradox. Or, maybe just the advertiser clout?

Let's all just enjoy what we got. After all, they're predicting the end of the world by 2012.

Just got my "new to me" replacement ZX14 in 2010. All you've got to do is have a get off doing 90mph or so and destroy your current bike, hope you live, and replace your current bike with a "new" one. I don't recommend it personally. It's exciting, entertains witnesses and all that but still leaves at least a small hole in, if nothing else, your wallet.
