Noob with questions

Whats up everyone. Name is Andy and just picked up a 1995 ex250.

It is a project bike that i am trying to get up and running. Found your forum and has been helpful.

Picked it up yesterday at 9PM and already pulled the carbs and cleaned them, and soaking the tank to get the old crap out, pulled the ignition switch and am waiting for a new one to show up with keys. Fairings are all off and getting cleaned. Need to do the front brakes and flush the rears. It was a florida bike that was riden for two years and stored the past 12. It has ONLY 1,5xx miles. Seems like it will be a fun bike.

I got one of ebay for a 80's through 94, will the ignition switch work on my 95? It was manufactured 8/95. I didn't realize it when i got it but it was cheap so not a huge loss if it doesn't work.

I am also a subaru junkie and auto-x an 02 wrx so if anyone has questions about that stuff, i can try and help out in any way.

Cheers,

Andy

Welcome! Another CT member... I think there's five of us now.

Sorry though, I have nothing productive to add, I really don't know. I'd be sort of surprised if it worked, you may want to try the 250/500 board for and answer.

All ignition switches are pretty much the same. cars and bikes. It should work if wired correctly

If you haven't already search for an online service manual. Throw in an inline fuel filter. New seals and "O" rings if the carbs are apart. Check to see the diaphrams are ok. A tap kit if it doesn't shut off fuel properly. New fuel and vacuum hoses. Pull wiring apart and check for corrosion. etc.

Just check to make sure the AMP and voltage are all the same as your old ignition. If it is, then you'll be fine.
