Unhappy '07 ZX-6R Problems....Please Help!

Hey everyone, I have an '07 ZX-6R. My problem is that the bottom bracket to mount the fan snapped off from apparent road wear (has 19,000 miles). The result caused the fan to bend into the radiator and put two gashes in it. Until recently, the gashes posed no problem. When I noticed the radiator leaking last week, I got the bracket welded (currently still together) and the two leaks welded (some kind of weld that looks like hard maple syrup). It seems that the two radiator welds have melted from the header heat. Now the radiator is leaking again! If anyone can please tell me if there is a better solution, i.e. a better weld for the radiator or stop leak (not sure if it's good for bikes), I would really appreciate it! Low budget, so I'm looking for a quick and cheap fix!

Thanks everyone!

JB Weld is unaffected by heat once cured. It's a two-part epoxy with metal crystals mixed in. The trick will be to get whatever crap that's on there now completely cleaned off and the surface of the rad where the leak is happening clean and dry so the JB will stick.

i just looked up the J-B cold Weld and it says it will bond to many metals including aluminum. is the standard J-B cold weld good then or do they make a specific JB weld epoxy solely for aluminum?

in addition (i forgot to add previously) i have some oil leaking out from a gasket onto the header. it is a very gradual leak but enough to make smoke when the bike gets hot. I think someone previously posted something about the '07 6rs having a leak like this. any more help is much appreciated!

the normal JB weld will do, and i believe the oil leak you have may be from the valve cover gasket

yes it was a silent recall. It should now be an issued recall. I just had my gasket fixed a few weeks ago. If not buy a new gasket and put it on.

there is a recall on the gasket. they have designed a kit to solve the problem. call your dealer and have them order it. the repair should be free of charge. I believe the survice number for the recall is MC016-8

a 'get you home' solution to a radiator leak involves putting an egg white in your coolant system.

Not recommended for long distance trips in the scorching heat, but it'll get you home (just in case you ever have this experience again).

As for JB weld - I can vouch for that. It works quickly, and really well too. Definately worth trying.

I think this belongs in Mech&Tech or in the 6-shooter forum.
