I just stuffed a bunch of shop towels under the filter and removed it. Some oil still ran down the inside of the faring and dripped out the bottom .
Use a shallow pan to drain into since the bike sits low, I quickly realized a standard drain pan for cars does not work.
I used some degreaser to clean up the mess after I got the oil changed.
Kawi should have made some better provisions to catch the oil from the filter IMO.
