95 zx9 starter problems

I have had my bike for almost 3 years and the problem has gotten progressivley worse. the problem starts when the bike sits for 2 or more days. i will turn the key on and i have no lights and it wont start. i will pull the clutch in and out 4 or 5 times and the lights will come on. but the bike still wont start, so i have to bump start it. i can ride it all day and turn the bike off and it will start right up. sometimes i will have to hold the starter button down and keep pulling in and letting off the clutch and it will start. but as soon as i let the bike sit for a day or more it wont start. i have checked the clutch swith and actually bypassed it and it dont help. i have checked all the plugs and that starter solenoid. everything is getting power when its supposes to. the battery is charged. everytime i hit the starter button i here a click in the fuse box under the seat, so i replaced it and it did nothing. so i guess my question is should i get a new starter for it?but why would the lights not come on when you turn the key on if only the starter was bad. i have read quite a few forums and havent ran across anyone with a problem like mine. so any help would be greatly appreciated.
