depends on what exhaust you buy, a slip on no but it is recommended. a full system yes... to change the springs no you do not have to drain the fluid, however some fluid will escape when you remove the cover and the springs, so check it and add to insure you have enough. maybe 1-2 oz not a big deal. just make sure you replace the gasket....
