You have to have a speedohealer installed to do it. The speedohealer allows you to correct your speedometer, odometer, convert mph to kph, and bypass the top speed shut off. On top of that it has a button on it (or you can get a remote mount button like I have) that allows you to see the top speed. It holds the top speed until you reset it. It's a great function to have when dropping your bike off for work to be done or when letting someone test ride your bike.
My favorite part is knowing how fast I am going when I go past a cop, it's also nice to have true mileage on my odometer instead of it showing 8% more miles than it actually has.
