I did not use slim ballasts and I was able to fit 1 on each side of the bike underneath those black covers fastened by three screws. Set them all the way back right up against the tank. Fit perfectly and the wires run along the outside of the intake tubes to the housings. No clearance issues with the forks. I'll try and get some pics up.
