New kid thinking about a ZX-11 as next motorcycle

Well, first of all, let me apologize for any typos, i will proofread this, but Im trying to type with a cast on, and it aint easy. Also, capitalization is really hard for me.

I recently wrecked my 1984 Honda Nighthawk 700, it was my first bike, but i kinda let every one else talk me into it. "Its more comfortable, more versatile, you will be so much happier with it" you can tell i come from a family of people who like Harley's. I had wanted a crotch rocket, something like a ninja 500 or 650, but finding a nice one fore under $2000 was a problem.

A few months ago a pickup truck almost hit me, and the nighthawk ended up totaled.

Now i have decided to go back to school, to study automotive customization and restoration. I really want to have a motorcycle for the summer any way, and my car doesnt get good enough fuel millage to take to school. I am not bothered by riding in the rain, or any of that, so i decided to sell the car and buy a bike. The first bike that grabbed my attention was the FZ1, but i really cant afford one, even after selling my car. The next bike i saw that i liked was the ZX-11. They go for about $3000 around here, and they are drop dead smexy.

My question for you all, what type of saddle bags have you found that fit well on these bikes and how much do they cost?

Do you run handlebar risers?

what kind of fuel mileage do you all get?

In the early 90s models, are there many differences between years? Any wear points i should check out?

I plan to get something to help protect the bike in case of (heaven forbid) another wreck. What type of products are available for these bikes?

Any thing else i should know before purchasing?

Thats all i got, keep the rubber on the road.
