oil pan?

Ok, I've finally gotten around to changing the engine in my baby ('98 zx-11). Last fall I picked up a new engine with 14k miles('96 I think; can't remember now) for her and I just got the old one pulled last night (output shaft bearing toasted). I was swapping a few parts and noticed that the oil pans are a little different. The New pan is unpainted, has an extra cast "spike", a few other feature changes and the oil pressure switch is in the back not on the side when compared to the one off my '98. What I want to know is: Does one pan have an advantage over another? should I swap the pan off my '98 onto the new engine?
