I had to replace the tank on my old Concours at about 24,000 miles. It rusted through all around the lower edge. I guess Kawasaki didn't learn anything. It might be worth the trouble to treat the inside of the tank with a waterproof coating. I did the new tank but I can't remember the name of the product. It left a white coating that protected from rust. I also used it on the tank of my 73 Pantera since you had to pull the engine to access the gas tank.
