If you can be sure that there is voltage coming to the wire your splicing from the proper source and you know that the light works like it should, then putting the two things together should only yield an obvious result.

I go to try it (for the 4th time) tomorrow, it's rainin' cats and dogs here. But to confirm to your earlier post, I should be able to hook up the light I want wire to the (+) side of the battery and it should come on right. Just want to make sure, i don't want anything blowing out. I am going to try this for the running light just to make sure it's working (I'm sure it is).
