Question Ignition timing

I've already pulled the flies...added a TBR can and PC3. Now I want to tweek the ignition timing.

There's two ways to do this AFAIK:

1- get a run of the mill TRE. But apparently they ALL disable your gear sensor in order to trick the ECU into thinking it's always in 6th...

Or

2- Muzzy makes a timing advance plate. It allows you to advance the timing across the board up to 4 degrees. The only thing I'm not sure of it what the total advance is. The manual indicates 10.6 degrees @ 1100 rpm. But does any know what the maximal timing advance is in top gear?

THOUGHTS?
